Last month, when I wrote this post, I made two mistakes. I said we have no almond tree in our garden and I said almond trees always blossom on the festival of Tu B’Shvat and there didn’t appear to be any near our house.
Wrong!
The almond trees blossomed late this year, or Tu B’Shvat was early, or both. There has been plenty of almond blossom around here for the past couple of weeks.
There is an almond tree in our garden, it turns out, and now that the blossom has nearly all gone, I’ve got round to taking a photo.
No, not that. That’s part of a plum tree.
Yes, that. At least, I think that’s an almond tree. So much for my foray into botany!
In my next post, I’ll tell you about the excellent writing workshop I attended yesterday, when I’ve worked out what I want to say about it. At least writing is something I know a little bit about.

You made a mistake – just like everyone else.
But few people have the courage to admit it – so you set a wonderful example to the rest of us!
That’s a nice way of looking at it 🙂
I wouldn’t know almond blossom from any other blossom either. You’re not alone! We have no almond trees in our garden, I’m sure, I think, but we have just planted two apple trees 🙂
When you plant them, you know what they are. I hope you get some delicious apples 🙂
At least you’re willing to give it a try. I can’t tell one plant from another. I’m that person who only knows they’ve rubbed against poison oak or poison ivy if I start itching lol!!!
Ha ha! One plant I always recognise is the stinging nettle. I’ve come into contact with it in the past!
I know nothing about blossom, other than it looks so pretty and doesn’t last long enough!
Very true and probably all we need to know!
It looks very pretty — white against the green, and blue sky. Perseverance paid off, and look at that — an almond tree. Congrats.
