…together the flames…

Together the Flames

together the flames
divided the ash
together the harmony
divided the discord
together the landscape
divided the debris
together the meal
divided the nibbles
together the discussion
divided the argument
together the system
divided the crash
together the bonding
divided the loneliness
together the book
divided the pages
together the story
divided the words
together the outfit
divided the rags
together the dance
divided the steps
together the pie
divided the ingredients
together the material
divided the strands
together the computer
divided the components
together the sport
divided the farce
together we stand
divided we fall
together we live
divided

    1. Thank you! I like “thought provoking”. “Wonderful” sounds pretty good, too!

  6. I thought the repetition of the words at the beginning of each stanza became a little much and caused the eyes to glaze over toward the end. I’m not saying that this isn’t good poetry. IT just kind of hammered at me.

    1. Hey – someone finally said what they think! I do get the impression that people who are part of 100WCGU or any similar challenges always say, “This is brilliant” because that’s what they’re supposed to say, so it’s lovely to get a truthful comment. Thank you!

      1. You’re not wrong there. A lot of folks here are scared of provoking a flame. I haven’t been immune recently so I applaud Michael and his spirit and resolve to speak my mind more often. ps agreed with Mike if I was honest. But last two lines make it worthwhile.

  7. There are so many issues that you’ve raised in this poem, you could go on to write a dozen blog posts, one for each point.

Your brain is certainly in the zone today. Your comment on my post raised a point that I wish I’d thought of!! Thanks 🙂

  8. Hi Miriam, I like this original take.. I wasn’t sure I ‘got’ it at first, til I got to the last four lines… The last line especially – just ‘divided,’ – so powerful. Then I read it again. And again. Inspired writing.
